Empowered Communities is a registered charity. We empower people in poverty and most excluded to transform their lives, and their communities.
Living in areas of deprivation, or suffering disadvantage and social exclusion, can have a significant effect on a person's life chances and health. We aim to tackle these inequalities.
We reach into the most deprived communities in the UK, tackling the major issues causing multiple deprivation, creating strong, sustainable and inclusive communities, where those who are experiencing deprivation, disadvantage, and social exclusion are supported and empowered to achieve their true potential, transforming their lives and their community.
We deliver the following outcomes:
Where people support each other to improve their lives and their environment. Where people are given opportunities to improve their academic, economic or social circumstances, and where local initiatives are delivered which support a long term change in the local economic, social and environmental situation.
Where communities are empowered to improve their own circumstances, rather than relying long term on outside agencies. Sustainable environmental change will be promoted, so that current, as well as future residents are able to meet their needs.
Where those who are experiencing social and economic exclusion, and disability, are supported to integrate into the community, and are given equal opportunity to improve their lives, improve their skills and educational attainment, and to play an active part in the transformation of their community.
Allowing people to reach their true potential, removing barriers which prevent them reaching their true potential, and enabling them to make the transition away from being socially or economically disadvantaged, or socially excluded.
